Restorative Yoga is Back for More Dates!

Updated: Jul 3

If you've missed the last two classes, worry not! Tami Emge is back with more Restorative Yoga and Mediatation classes. Tami is a board certified Yoga Instructor and Sound Healer from Ventura, California, and now Meadow Lakes! She and her husband recently bought a second home in the neighborhood and now we get to benefit from her talents!

Mark your calendars for September 15th and 22nd for two evenings of Restorative Yoga at The Orchard. Classes start at 6:30PM and will finish at 7:30PM. Please bring your own yoga mat, two blankets (or towels), and water. Water is also available for purchase in the gift store.

For those of you entering into the Restorative Yoga world for the first time, we would describe it as a more passive yoga that has tremendous healing benefits for both mind and body. The practice is meant to restore your nervous system through a series of poses supported by props (bolsters, blankets, blocks), that help you fully relax into your yoga practice. Each pose is held for up to ten minutes and there is no muscular effort involved. In Restorative Yoga, we still stretch, but we are encouraged to relax as much into the stretch as possible, to relieve tension and to focus more on breath. This yoga can be extremely relaxing and helpful if you are recovering from injury.

Tami also uses sound healing, and other techniques in her practice that are designed to relax the body and mind further, to get to a deeper state in yoga practice. Sound healing uses rythym and frequency to facilitate shifts in brainwaves to reach relaxed consciousness (alpha) and meditative state (theta). Practitioners use tuning forks, drums, or Himalayan singing bowls to help students arrive at still point meditation. Sound healing can be a deeply emotional and nurturing practice.
