Event Timeline & Call for Volunteers and Actors for Our Inaugural Apple Pageant!

We're excited to invite all of our community members and cherished guests to the Apple Pageant, a delightful event hosted by Pineridge at The Orchard at Meadow Lakes on September 14th, 2024. This festive celebration marks the start of this year's apple season, and it's free for everyone!



Event Details


  • Date: September 14th

  • Time: 11:00AM Sharp (arrive by 10:30AM for cast lineup)

  • Location: The Orchard at Meadow Lakes (41270 Auberry Road - follow the apple signs!)


Itinerary Highlights


  1. Introduction by Granny Apple: Our charming host will kick off the festivities.

  2. Wild Wacky Women Drummers of the Woods: Six drummers will set the forest's heartbeat.

  3. Apple Pan Dowdie Kids: Join the fun with a procession up through the apple trees, banging pots and pans to create a lively atmosphere. Red chef hats available for early arrivals!

  4. Bell Sweepers: Ring in the new season with bells and brooms, welcoming pollinators back to the orchard. Props provided for early arrivals.

  5. Audience participation: Props like fire, rain, smoke, snow, and sunshine will be distributed for an interactive experience.

  6. Interactive Storytelling: "Little Flame:" An engaging story involving audience movement and props, with roles for participants of all ages.

  7. Royal Apple Court Arrival: Meet puppet characters like McIntosh, Golden Delicious, and more, with a special performance by the Royal Jester.

  8. Conclusion and Photo Opportunities: Enjoy photo ops with the puppets and stay for a musical performance by the band "Uncle Ephus" playing bluegrass and crowd favorites.



VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES


We need volunteers to help with props, puppets, and event logistics. Costumes and flannel shirts are encouraged for a festive fall look!


  • Puppeteers for the lifesize puppets (calling all actors!)


  • 11 volunteers to be in charge of the 11 processional puppets! Carefully remove them from their plastic bag home and put them away again. Stay with the puppeteer and make sure the puppet is held high enough for the fabric not to drag! Untangle fabric. 


  • 3 volunteers to pass out & collect the pot & pans, Red Chef hats and bell sweepers. 


  • 5 volunteers to pass out and collect fire, rain, smoke, snow, and sunshine props. 


  • Volunteers to offer to take family photos with the puppets


  • Volunteers to guide the parking


  • Event Coordination: Assist with organizing and coordinating various aspects of the pageant day.

  • Promotion and Outreach: Spread the word about the pageant and help us reach a wider audience.
