Celebrate Opening Day of Apple Season with Us! (Saturday, September 14th)

Updated: Aug 19

We are thrilled to announce the Opening Day of Apple Season at The Orchard at Meadow Lakes! It’s one of our favorite times of the year, and we’re excited to kick off the season with a day filled with fun, community, and delicious apples. Whether you’re a family looking for a fun day out or a business interested in sponsorship opportunities, we’ve got something special for everyone.

For Families: Be Part of the Magic!

Bring your kids and let them be part of something truly special this Opening Day! We’re hosting a live play that will bring the farm to life with characters representing all nine of our delicious and apples, a Sun King and Snow Queen, the Apple Pan Dowdies, "Flame" the Phoenix, and all of their Woodland Friends.

If you arrive early - around 10:20 AM - your kids will have the chance to be part of the play as smoke, rain, snow, and fire - just dress in all black or grey, blue, white, or red, orange, or yellow! It’s a unique and exciting opportunity for them to engage with the farm in a whole new way. Props will be provided if you get here early! Email Tami@meadowlakesorchard.com, call (559) 890-1022, or stop into the store, Thursday-Sunday from 9AM-4:30PM to sign up.

After the play, enjoy a day of live music from Uncle Ephus, hayrides, and all the farm activities we have planned. Don’t forget to bring your own chairs, as seating is limited. We’ll have some hay bales available on a first-come, first-served basis, but bringing your own chairs will ensure you have a comfortable spot to enjoy the festivities.

For Sponsors: Showcase Your Brand!

We’re inviting businesses to partner with us as sponsors for this exciting event. Sponsorship is a fantastic way to connect with our community and showcase your brand to a wide audience. As a sponsor, you’ll have multiple marketing opportunities:

  • Social Media: Your brand will be featured in our promotional posts leading up to the event, reaching our engaged followers. Instagram, and Facebook,

  • Website: We’ll highlight your business on our event page, giving you visibility to everyone checking out the details online. We will also send monthly updates before and after the event through our mailing list of 800+ subscribers.

  • Event Promotion: Your logo and business name will be prominently displayed at the event, ensuring that all attendees see your support.

  • Thank You Ads: After the event, we’ll be running thank you ads, both online and in local media, where your sponsorship will be acknowledged.

Your support helps us provide top-notch entertainment and make this Opening Day unforgettable for everyone involved. Plus, it’s a great way to show your commitment to the local community!

Whether you’re coming to enjoy the day with your family or looking to make an impact as a sponsor, the Opening Day of Apple Season at The Orchard is an event you won’t want to miss. Mark your calendars, bring your chairs, and get ready for a day full of fun, laughter, and plenty of apples!

Details

Date: Saturday, September 14, 2024

Time: 11AM (Sharp!) Band starts around noon and there will be food available for purchase from around 11:30-3pm from a (surprise!) skilled food vendor (time will depend on exact ending of play).

There will be parking attendants to guide you to parking near the hay barn, and there will be a short walk up the hill. There will be additional accommodations if you need help bridging the distance (ie, side-by-side, or shorter drop off area) - simply tell our parking attendant as you pull in, and they will guide you to the top of the drop off area.

Attire: Everyone is encouraged to dress in woodland creature costumes (such as a Bear, Deer, Chipmunk, Squirrel, Rabbit, etc. if you've got them) and kids will have an opportunity to join the fun. Please dress in all grey or black (if you'd like to represent smoke), all red, orange, or yellow (for fire), white (snow), or blue (to represent rain). We will have props for early arrivers that represent each color/element. If you'd like your kids to participate, please plan on being at the farm early, 10:20AM.

Closed toed shoes ARE REQUIRED to be on the farm at all times. We have all kinds of creatures that would bite you if you stepped on them. They mostly leave you alone, but we like to err on the safe side.

We're not sure what the weather looks like yet, but the average high for our area on September 14th is 86 degrees Fahrenheit and an average low of 61 degrees Fahrenheit, with no precipitation to speak of (0.38 inches, nerds). That's for Auberry, so you can expect a 6-12 degree temperature drop at this time of year. Ladies, bring a shawl (or buy one in the farm store! :) for the early evening.

What to Bring: Please bring your own chair, water, and sunscreen. This is an open-air production and you will be in the sun for about 30 minutes. Water will be available for sale in the farm store along with the usual delicious croissants, apple blossoms, cookies, and other sweet treats baked by Julie Falk and the PineRidge Sugar Shack. Prices range from $2 (water and small cookies) - $30 (for pies), and everything in between. Please see HERE for more information on our Farm Store.

Bring along your sense of childhood delight and wonder, as the apple pageant will transport you back to days gone by.

We can’t wait to see you there and celebrate the start of another wonderful apple season together!
